The 2013 4-H Clothing Packet

The 2013 4-H Clothing Packet is now available at

The 2013 Clothing Packet includes the guidelines, rules and regulations for the Fashion Show and the Fashion Storyboard Contest at State Roundup.  The website also includes all contest documents in a fillable PDF format.  Please discard the 2012 Roundup materials as information in the guide has changed. 

Please review changes to the contest rules and paperwork.

  • The following design brief will serve as the direction for the 2013 Fashion Storyboard contest.

Be True to Who You Are

As Dr. Seuss says, “Why fit in when you were born to Standout!”  Who cares what anyone else thinks.   Go with your emotion.  Show your passion!  Show the you that is you in your original fashion.

  • Due to lack of participation the Fashion Show Stage Design contest has been discontinued.

  • The number of copies of Fashion Show paperwork required to be mailed in by May 8, 2013 is two.

  • Quilt Challenge is being revised.  The Challenge is moving back towards its roots as a statewide community service project.  The Quilt Challenge guideline will be available October 1, 2012. Quilts will not be displayed at 4-H Roundup in College Station.

The deadlines listed are the dates that applications and entries need to be postmarked. Please remind participants that NO late entries will be accepted for any of the contests.   Also remind all contestants to read the instructions carefully as points will be deducted for incomplete or incorrect paperwork.

Fashion Extravaganza!!

 The following is from Extension Agent Wendi Green.  If you have any questions please contact her at 903-683-5416.

Youth can still enter the Fashion Contest, even if they cannot make the all-day workshop.  I do need to know no later than APRIL 9, 5 PM if they plan to participate.

Here are the details:
·         Monday, April 9 ~ 9:30 AM to 3 PM
·         Bring a sack lunch & snacks
·         Bring any decorating/scrapbooking type items with you for us to share
·         Bring magazines that we can cut out of & a pair of scissors
·         FREE
·         Fee charged for Storyboard ONLY
·         RSVP to the county office by Wednesday, April 4th
·         County contest open to Clover Kids (Kindergarten-2nd Grade); Juniors, Intermediate & Seniors

2012 dates for the County and District Fahion Shows

The dates for the County and District Fashion Shows have been set. If you have any questions, please contact Wendi Green at the Extension Office (903) 683-5416.



Count Workshop/Contest will be held April 9th at the Extension Office from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm. Bring a lunch with you. There will be a fee for the foam board only. The deadline to enter for county is April 4th at 5:00 pm.

The deadline to enter the District contest will be April 10th. The competition will be held at Stephen F. Austin University on April 28th.

Fashion Show and the East Texas State Fair


The following is for those wish to participate in the Fashion Show at the East Texas State Fair.

Cherokee County 4-H is registered for the 2012 Youth Fashion Show. The contest will be held in January this year. Please go to (www.etstatefair.com)

Choose Education, then Academic Rodeo, then Academic Rodeo Schedule for specific dates and deadlines.

One additional change for this year: Construction garments will be submitted in advance for construction judging.

The Smart Buying Division has become very popular with many of our schools in teaching consumer issues. Be sure that your students (AND their parents) understand the requirements for the contest. I often have calls from parents wanting to have the student submit an item that Mom purchased or that they wore in a wedding or other event. The purpose of the contest is for the student to do the comparison shopping and make the decision based on what is learned from the experience.

Also, a garment may not be entered in 2 categories or divisions. Construction of accessories for a purchased garment will not qualify for the Construction Division.
